Gabbeh means "raw" in Persian and describes rustic rugs that have become increasingly popular since the early 1990s. They offer a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs. Gabbeh rugs have a thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and bold geometric patterns. The designs can be abstract or figurative, often featuring animal or human motifs. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton. They vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
