The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes simple, rustic carpets. Since the early 1990s, they have become increasingly popular as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh rugs are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, often featuring abstract or figurative motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton or other materials, in sizes ranging from small mats to large rugs suitable for any interior design.
