Gabbeh, meaning "raw" in Farsi, describes rustic rugs that have been popular since the 1990s as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They have a thick pile, come in a variety of colours and feature bold geometric patterns, either abstract or figurative with animals or people. Mostly made of wool, sometimes cotton or other materials, they range from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room in the house.
