The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and refers to a simple, rustic rug. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh carpets have a thick pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns. They often feature abstract or figurative designs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they can also contain cotton or other materials and range from small mats to large carpets for any room.
