Gabbeh carpets, hand-knotted in Iran and India, mean "raw" in Farsi and embody a simple, rustic style. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a relaxed alternative to more formal Persian carpets. With thick, luxurious pile and a variety of colours, they feature cool geometric or animal motifs, abstract or figurative. Mostly made of wool, they vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit well in any room of the house.
