Description
Gabbeh rugs from Iran and India are traditionally knotted and bear the name “Gabbeh”, which means “raw” in Farsi and describes their simple, rustic character. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a more relaxed alternative to classic Persian rugs, which are often associated with formal interior design. Gabbehs are known for their thick, luxurious pile, diverse colouring and cool geometric and animal motifs, which can be either abstract or representational. Usually made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large rugs and are suitable for any room in the house.
