Gabbeh carpets, originating in Iran and India, are rustic knotted carpets. The name "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Persian and refers to their simple style. Increasingly popular since the early 1990s, they offer a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. They are characterised by dense pile, diverse colours and bold geometric and animal motifs. Usually made of wool on wool, they vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
