Gabbeh rugs are knotted in Iran and India. "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and describes simple, rustic rugs. Since the 1990s, they have enjoyed growing popularity as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They have a thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold geometric or animal motifs. The patterns, often abstract or representational, frequently depict animals or people. Made of wool, they range from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room.
