Description
Gabbeh rugs originate from Iran and India, where they are hand-knotted. Their name means “raw” in Persian and refers to rustic rugs. Since the early 1990s, they have become increasingly popular as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbehs are characterised by thick pile, diverse colours and geometric and animal motifs. Patterns can be abstract or representational, often featuring animals or people. Usually made of wool, they range from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
