Gabbeh, the Farsi word for "raw", describes rustic rugs that have become increasingly popular since the 1990s as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They are characterised by thick pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, often featuring abstract or representational motifs such as animals or people. Gabbeh rugs are usually made of wool, but also cotton or other materials, come in various sizes and fit into any room in the house.
