Pakistani carpet production is mainly concentrated in Lahore and Karachi, where many carpet weavers found refuge during the Indo-Pakistani War. The hand-knotted Pakistan Bukhara carpets are particularly well known, similar to Afghan Oriental carpets with dark colours, mainly shades of red. A characteristic feature is the recurring octagonal pattern found in many of these carpets. These traditional designs can be ideally combined with current trends and interior design preferences, allowing Pakistani carpets to bring both historical depth and aesthetic versatility to modern living spaces.
