Gabbeh, which means "raw" in Persian, have been popular since the early 1990s. They offer a more relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian rugs and are characterised by thick pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns. These can be abstract or representational, often depicting animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they range in size from small mats to large rugs and fit into any room in the house.
