Description
Gabbeh means “raw” in Farsi and describes simple, rustic carpets. They have been popular since the early 1990s as a relaxed, folk alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh carpets are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold, geometric patterns. The patterns can be abstract or representational, often featuring animals or people. Made from wool, occasionally cotton or other materials, Gabbeh rugs vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room.
