Gabbeh means "raw" in Farsi and refers to a simple, rustic rug. Popular since the early 1990s, they offer a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian rugs. Gabbeh rugs have a thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and bold geometric patterns. They often feature abstract or representational motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, they are also available in cotton or other materials, in sizes ranging from small mats to large carpets suitable for any room in the house.
