Description
Gabbeh means “raw” in Farsi and refers to simple, rustic carpets. They have been popular since the early 1990s as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbeh carpets are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, a variety of colours and bold, geometric patterns. The patterns can be abstract or representational, often depicting animals or people. Gabbeh rugs are usually made of wool, sometimes cotton or other materials. Sizes vary from small mats to large rugs, suitable for any room in the house.
