Description
Gabbeh carpets are hand-knotted in Iran and India. “Gabbeh” means “raw” in Farsi and describes a rustic carpet style. Since the 1990s, they have been popular as a more relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets. Gabbehs are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and geometric and animal motifs, which can be abstract or representational. Usually made of wool, they vary in size from small mats to large carpets and fit into any room in the house.
