Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven without a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher and explains their lower production costs. They are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, straightforward patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
