Gabbeh rugs from Iran and India are rustic knotted rugs whose name means "raw" in Persian. Since the early 1990s, they have been gaining popularity as a relaxed, more folk-inspired alternative to traditional Persian rugs. They are characterised by thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and cool, geometric or animal motifs. Mostly made of wool on wool, they range from small mats to large rugs and fit into any interior design. Their patterns can be abstract or figurative and often depict animals or people, underlining their versatility.
