Description
Afghanistan has a long tradition of carpet weaving, especially in the north of the country. Among the best known and finest carpets from this region are the hand-knotted Mamluk, Kahl Mohammadi and Mauri carpets. These Afghan oriental carpets are characterised by their warm, dark red colours and distinctive Göl ornaments. The Göl patterns, octagonal and also known as elephant feet, characterise the striking design of the carpets. These unique design elements give the carpets their traditional style. At the same time, the craftsmanship and high-quality materials underline the special quality and durability of the carpets, which are both aesthetically appealing and permanently valuable.
