Loom Lori carpets from India, especially the Gabbeh varieties, are characterised by their rustic simplicity. The term "Gabbeh" means "raw" in Farsi and reflects the unpretentious nature of these carpets. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets, which are often associated with formal interiors. Gabbeh carpets impress with their thick, luxurious pile, vibrant colours and striking geometric designs, which can feature both abstract and figurative motifs such as animals or people. Mainly made of wool, cotton and other materials are also occasionally used.
