Loom Lori carpets, hand-woven in India, include the popular Gabbeh carpets, whose name means "raw" in Farsi. Since the early 1990s, they have been popular as a relaxed, more folksy alternative to traditional Persian rugs. Gabbehs are characterised by their thick, luxurious pile, diverse colours and bold geometric patterns, either abstract or figurative with motifs such as animals or people. Mostly made of wool, some may also be made of cotton or other materials. Their size varies from small mats to large rugs that can fit into any room.
