Loom Lori carpets, hand-woven in India, include the popular "Gabbeh" carpets, named after the Persian word for "raw". Since the early 1990s, they have grown in popularity as a relaxed alternative to traditional Persian carpets, which are often associated with classic interior design. Gabbeh rugs are characterised by their thick, luxurious pile, wide range of colours and bold geometric patterns. The designs can be abstract or figurative, often depicting motifs such as animals or people. Usually made of wool, there are also variants made of cotton or other materials.
