Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven, resulting in a flatter and rougher finish without a high wool pile. This manufacturing process is less complex and therefore more cost-effective. Another advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
