Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This often makes them flatter and rougher, which explains their lower cost of production. They are lighter and can be used on both sides, which increases their versatility. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are known for their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
