Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. These simpler manufacturing methods result in a lower price. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
