Description
Kilim rugs are woven by hand and differ from hand-knotted rugs in their flat, rough character without raised wool pile. Their production is less complex, which is why they are often less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. Their designs are characterised by the weaving technique, which is usually simple and straightforward.
