Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven, which means they do not have a thick pile and are therefore flatter and rougher. This less complex manufacturing process makes them more affordable. They are lighter and more versatile, as they can be laid on either side. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are simple and straightforward, due to the special weaving technique. Kilims are not only a traditional handicraft product, but also a cultural heritage that captivates with its simple elegance and functionality.
