Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This makes them cheaper to produce. In addition, they are lighter and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are typically simple and straightforward due to the special weaving technique.
