Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties due to their hand-weaving technique: they do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher. This makes them cheaper to produce. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in India. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
