Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in that they are hand-woven and do not have a thick wool pile. They are flatter, rougher and less expensive. Due to their lighter weight, they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are also produced in India. Their designs are characterised by their weaving technique, often simple and straightforward.
