Description
These kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand. As a result, they do not have a high wool pile, are flatter and often rougher. Their production is less complex, which generally makes them more affordable. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by simple, linear patterns, which are determined by their weaving technique.
