Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand, which means they do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher. This simplified production process generally makes them more cost-effective. Another advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
