Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex, which makes them more cost-effective. Due to their lower weight, they are easier to handle and can be used on both sides. These rugs originated in former Persia and are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by a special weaving technique. Kilim rugs are valued for their versatility and traditional craftsmanship, making them a popular choice in many living spaces.
