Description
Kilim rugs differ from hand-knotted rugs in their weaving technique: they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. These simpler manufacturing methods usually make them less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
