Description
Kilim rugs are woven by hand, unlike hand-knotted rugs, and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This method of production is less labour-intensive and results in a more affordable product. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are known for their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
