Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher, which in turn makes them more affordable. An additional advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from ancient Persia, kilims are now also frequently produced in Afghanistan. They are known for their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
