Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, which makes them flatter and rougher. Their production is less complex and therefore less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. These rugs originate from former Persia and are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
