Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them generally flatter and rougher, which makes them more affordable. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their designs are often simple and straightforward, characteristic of the weaving technique.
