Description
Unlike hand-knotted carpets, kilim carpets are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This less complex manufacturing method generally makes them more affordable. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
