Description
Kilim rugs are hand-woven rugs, as opposed to hand-knotted rugs, and are characterised by their flatter, rougher texture without a high wool pile. Due to their less complex construction, they are generally less expensive. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Their patterns are typically simple and straightforward, due to the weaving technique.
