Description
Kilim carpets differ from traditional hand-knotted carpets in that they are hand-woven. They do not have a high wool pile, are flatter and rougher, which makes them cheaper to produce. Due to their lower weight, they can be used flexibly on both the front and back. Originally from Persia, they are also produced in Afghanistan today. Kelim carpets are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the special weaving technique.
