Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand. They do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and rougher. This makes them cheaper to produce. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are known for their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique.
