Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted rugs in that they are woven by hand. As a result, they lack the typical raised wool pile and are often flatter and rougher than knotted rugs. Their production is less complex, which makes them more cost-effective. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, hand-woven kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. Kilims are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique. These rugs are known for their craftsmanship and versatility in both traditional and modern living spaces.
