Description
Kilim carpets differ from hand-knotted carpets in their weaving technique: they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile, making them flatter and rougher. This makes them less expensive to manufacture. Kilims are lighter than traditional carpets and can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique. Kilim rugs are known for their craftsmanship and practical versatility.
