Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand. Without a thick wool pile, they are flatter and rougher, which makes them more cost-effective. Their production is less complex. A major advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
