Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties as they are woven by hand. As a result, they do not have a high wool pile and are generally flatter and coarser. This manufacturing method is less complex, making them more cost-effective. Another advantage is their lower weight and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are typically characterised by simple, linear patterns created by their special weaving technique.
