Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are hand-woven, resulting in a flatter, rougher fabric without the typical woolly pile. This makes them less expensive and lighter than traditional rugs. Kelim rugs can be used on both sides and originate from former Persia, and today also from Afghanistan. Their designs are characterised by the weaving technique and tend to feature simple, linear patterns.
