Description
Kilim rugs differ significantly from hand-knotted varieties in that they are hand-woven. This means that they do not have a high wool pile and are often flatter and coarser. Their production is less complex, which generally makes them more affordable. One advantage is their lightness and the fact that they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, kilims are now also widely produced in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created by the weaving technique.
