Description
Kilim rugs differ fundamentally from hand-knotted varieties in that they are woven by hand and do not have a high wool pile. This makes them flatter and rougher to the touch, which reduces their manufacturing costs. Their lightweight construction allows them to be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also increasingly produced in Afghanistan. Kelim rugs are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which are created using a special weaving technique. These characteristics make them not only aesthetically appealing, but also versatile and affordable compared to other types of rugs.
