Description
Kilim rugs are woven by hand, unlike hand-knotted rugs with raised wool pile. They are flatter, rougher and cheaper to produce. Due to their light weight, they can be used on both sides. Originally from Persia, they are now also manufactured in Afghanistan. They are characterised by their simple, linear patterns, which result from the special weaving technique. This makes them a popular choice for decoration.
